Volunteer Terms & Liability Waiver

Please read these terms carefully before signing up as a volunteer at the Nepali Cultural & Spiritual Center (NCSC).

1. Volunteer Eligibility

  • You are 18 years or older, OR you are under 18 with parent/guardian consent.
  • You are participating voluntarily and not as an employee or contractor.

2. Nature of Volunteer Work

Volunteers may assist with:

  • Temple events, festivals, and ceremonies
  • Setup/cleanup, food service, and decorations
  • Parking, crowd guidance, and check‑in
  • Cultural programs and youth activities
  • Administrative and support tasks
  • Any other activities approved by NCSC coordinators

Assignments may vary based on temple needs.

3. Code of Conduct

All volunteers agree to:

  • Act respectfully toward priests, staff, visitors, and other volunteers.
  • Follow all temple rules, including dress and behavior guidelines.
  • Abstain from alcohol, tobacco, or prohibited substances on temple property.
  • Maintain a positive, safe, and welcoming environment.
  • Protect temple property and treat all religious items with respect.
  • Represent NCSC in a dignified and culturally appropriate manner.

NCSC may remove any volunteer who violates these standards or disrupts temple activities.

4. Safety Rules

  • Follow instructions from NCSC coordinators and event leads.
  • Report hazards, injuries, or unsafe behavior immediately.
  • Use equipment properly and only as instructed.
  • Avoid activities beyond your physical ability.
  • Follow fire, kitchen, and crowd‑management safety protocols.

5. Assumption of Risk

Volunteering may involve physical activity, lifting, outdoor work, large crowds, food handling, and other tasks that carry some risk of injury or illness. By signing up, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with volunteering at NCSC events or facilities.

6. Release of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Texas law, you release and hold harmless NCSC, its Board, priests, officers, employees, volunteers, and agents from any claims, damages, injuries, or losses arising from your participation as a volunteer. You understand that NCSC does not provide health or accident insurance for volunteers.

7. Medical Consent

In case of emergency, you authorize NCSC to obtain medical treatment for you if necessary and accept full financial responsibility for such care.

8. Personal Belongings

NCSC is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal items brought by volunteers.

9. Photos & Media Consent

Volunteers may appear in photos or videos taken during temple events. NCSC may use these images for non‑commercial cultural, religious, or community purposes (website, social media, brochures). If you wish to opt out, you must notify NCSC in writing.

10. Confidentiality

Volunteers may have access to private information (such as donor lists and personal data). You agree not to share, copy, or misuse any confidential information obtained through volunteering.

11. No Compensation

Volunteering at NCSC is unpaid. You understand that you will not receive wages, benefits, or reimbursement unless explicitly approved in advance for specific expenses.

12. Dismissal

NCSC may terminate a volunteer’s role at any time for unsafe behavior, disrespectful conduct, violation of temple rules, disruption of events or religious services, or misuse of information or property.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, with venue in the local county where NCSC is registered.

Agreement & Consent

By submitting the volunteer signup form, you acknowledge that you have read and understand these Volunteer Terms & Conditions and accept the Liability Waiver. You confirm that you are participating voluntarily and at your own risk.

Short disclaimer for the signup form: “By submitting this form, I agree to NCSC Volunteer Terms & Conditions. I understand I am participating voluntarily and at my own risk, and release NCSC from liability for injuries or damages that may occur during volunteer activities.”
